VISION FOR THE FUTURE WORKSHOP MANUAL

The idea of a Vision for the Future seminar is to bring together representatives of different groups (the general public, city government and/or schools) in their local context to introduce the concept of climate neutrality to the population and to develop a collective vision for a climate neutral future. The idea of the participatory format is to enable people from different sectors of society to meet and to open the eyes of the participants to how climate policy goals can be adapted by the EU and national levels to local specificities and the immediate living environment of each person.

In doing so, we consider and work with the fact that each individual has their own ideas about how their daily life and environment will look like in the future. In the Vision for the Future seminar, these are given expression and considered in relation to the necessary long-term transformation. Through this approach, participants are given the opportunity to address their own and others’ priorities on the following questions: How do we want to live in the future? How should we imagine this in terms of climate change? In this way, as a city or school administration, you will learn where the emphasis should be placed, and participants will be confronted with the question of how they can contribute to the great transformation in their own context. A “Vision for the Future” workshop can also be helpful in achieving the common goal, offer positive perspectives for the future and encourage creative thinking and engagement. Therefore, the most important thing in the workshop is to provide participants with the opportunity to develop their own vision of a climate-neutral future in which they would like to live.

The interactive format of the workshop (using different methods and materials allowing for individual participation) allows event organizers to contribute to the development of innovative and locally relevant visions of climate neutrality.
