With the understanding that municipal and state administrations strictly monitor and implement changes in Bulgarian legislation, the National Trust EcoFund informs all potential applicants under the two currently open calls for project proposals for improving the energy efficiency of public buildings (Energy Efficiency of Municipal Schools and Kindergartens and the Investment Climate Program) of the following:
Under § 25 of the Final Provisions of the Act Amending and Supplementing the Renewable Energy Act (promulgated in the State Gazette, issue 47 of 2025, in force as of 10.06.2025), amendments were made to the Energy Efficiency Act, according to which, as of 1 January 2025, schemes and mechanisms for promoting energy efficiency do not apply to the installation of standalone boilers using fossil fuels.
In this regard, it is important to note that the NTEF will not provide grant funding specifically for the supply and installation of a standalone boiler using fossil fuels (including coal, lignite, oil, heavy fuel oil, diesel, kerosene and natural gas).
The beneficiary shall cover this expense entirely with its own funds. All other activities related to the heating installation, as well as the other measures from the selected package in the Energy Audit Report, remain eligible for co-financing under NTEF programs.
