Energy Management in Municipalities in Germany and the EU
Experience and Good Practices
This report was prepared within the framework of the MENERGERS project - Energy Managers’ Services in Municipalities. The project is part of the European Climate Initiative (EUKI) of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK).
The report provides information on the organization and status of municipal energy management in Germany and the European Union. Various topics such as the municipal organizational structure, communication with external parties, the data situation, the energy transition, education and barriers are taken into account. In the individual thematic sections, typical examples from practice are described. Finally, the respective energy management model of the four German municipalities of Birkenwerder, Troenbritzen, Ludwigsfelde and Hannover, as well as the European municipalities of Vienna, Delft and Aradippou, is presented in more detail.
